Easy Ways to Refresh Your Kitchen Without a Full Renovation
March 24, 2026Cabinet wreaths help a kitchen feel warm and welcoming but do it wrong and it creates a completely opposite feeling—cluttered and messy. The solution isn’t more wreaths. The solution is placing them correctly.
Hanging wreaths on upper cabinets is usually best. They draw more attention so wreaths are more likely to be seen. To create a focal point that is not intrusive hang a wreath on a cabinet that is frequently used. For double door cabinets wreaths placed in the center is a clean balanced look. Minimize for single doors because they tend to feel too busy.
Think about spacing too. Wreaths on every single cabinet is not necessary and may feel random instead of intentional if there are excessive wreaths. Spread them out by dressing up every other cabinet or just the section around the sink and stove. This spacing lets the knobs and handles in the area breathe and keeps the place from feeling cluttered.
If there is a glass-front cabinet that is a great place too because wreaths there help texture the space without competing with what’s inside. Avoid below cabinets too because they are high-traffic areas. Don’t wreaths there because they will not look decorative just out of place.
You may feel tempted to plaster a kitchen island with wreaths but it can easily feel overwhelming especially in a smaller kitchen. One or two on the cabinetry of an island are perfectly charming and not too much.
Lastly take a moment to view everything as a whole. Cabinet wreaths should accent your kitchen not overpower it. They should draw the eye not repel it.
Decorating a kitchen is not about a lot of adornments it’s about the perfect amount of them. Especially with cabinet wreaths a small amount of consideration with placement achieves a lot.
