The 30-Minute DIY Cabinet Wreath Makeover

What if we told you it was possible to makeover your kitchen cabinets without spending a fortune? The DIY cabinet wreath makeover is the perfect way to add charm and seasonal personality to your cabinets with out a complete remodel and at a time cost of less than half an hour.
Even better? The supplies are super affordable! You’ll need a 12 – 14” grapevine wreath base 3 – 5 pick faux greenery (eucalyptus and cedar are great staples) 1 – 2 yards of wired ribbon floral wire and a hot glue gun. If you can do a bow and trim a stem then you can do this.
Next you’ll fluff and trim the greenery into 3 – 4 inch sprigs. The trick is to avoid gluing everything straight (that’s the number one mistake that makes wreaths look “crafty” and makes you look like a 5 year old). Think of each sprig as a layer. Tuck your base layer into the grapevine base and hold it with floral wire. For a second layer add more greenery to one side of the wreath and enjoy that asymmetrical modern look.

While waiting for your glue gun to heat up cut your ribbon. Here’s a little trick for a perfect drape: For your cabinet height multiply by 1.5 to achieve a balanced tailored drop. The length you cut helps achieve that perfect drop. For your wreath thread the ribbon through the top and use a removable adhesive hook or ribbon-safe tape to secure it to the inside top of your cabinet door.

If your wreath is looking a little flat add some texture. Berries tiny bells or a contrasting sprig of greenery work great. If your bow isn’t cooperating you can lightly steam the wired ribbon to get it to hold the shape you want.

In no time you’ve turned your plain cabinets into a beautiful and inviting focal point. Better yet you can change out the ribbon for a new look each season without rebuilding the wreath. The transformation is simple and stylish and it is definitely the kind of makeover worth repeating.
